Prostitution...

What Constitutes Prostitution?????

When we think of prostitution, the thought that generally comes to mind is a woman who engages in sexual intercourse for money - for example, a search on the web has demonstrated that this is the meaning (link). However, when a man is attracted to another woman and wines and dines her, does he expect sex in return - and would we therefore consider this as prostitution? In my opinion, if the woman 'returns the favour' as so to speak, this may or may not be prostitution:

  • it depends on the woman's feelings - does she want a relationship, but is insecure and feels that engaging in sexual activity will form into a loving relationship? If this is the case, i believe the woman is not prostituting herself

  • However, if the woman generally wants 'fun with no strings attached', i feel this would be a form of prostitution since each person has given something to receive something

So is prostitution a bad thing all of the time - or a bad thing at all....? What do you think?
