Binge drinking...

Binge Drinking...

Drinking alcohol isn't necessarily a bad thing, as long as it's done in moderation...for example, men can drink up to 21 units of alcohol a week and women 14...and also alcohol is thought to have some positive effects too! For example, it makes the blood less likely to clot and improves the health of the lining of the arteries...for more positive attributes see here.

However, binge drinking stems from social drinking, and according to a government report, it is costing the country £20 billion a year!!!! So why then do we continue to do it??

Binge drinking occurs mainly during the ages of 16 to 24, and has become something of a hobby because it increases peoples' confidence and helps the drinker to feel more relaxed in social situations. However, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages because one can become so drunk that they do not know what they are doing and could possibly lose their belongings (as i have too many times!!!), not be able to get home safely and also forget the previous night's events, which could be dangerous...

I think that the dangers of binge drinking should be advertised more so that younger people are more aware...and remember that if you insist on getting paraletic, you should always make sure there is a group of you - because as they say 'safety in numbers'!
